Aleksandra Winnicka all tops altogether

Exhibition ‘All tops altogether’ starts from thought remaining enigmatic for it’s author himself. Thoughts, as Ola Winnicka claims, are fantastic, constantly transforming patterns alike. What moves an artist this time are crumbs of human activity. Activity so ephemeral, as happens elusive trivial reflection, sometimes as unsophisticated as domestic actions improving house aesthetics, and sometimes bringing more serious consequences as religiousness or political ideas. Winnicka seems to look at the world and find clues. However! Things around me are so diverse, because what happens in people’s minds, happens separately. Quite original reflection. It’s consequence shapes a form of decent and honest, because embracing single man’s opportunities and experience, attempt of reality catalogue. Ola is looking for common denominator – all tops altogether – specific emotion standing behind our impulses to action, capable of generating real (but often unconscious) human community. For that reason reality she had experienced on various levels and now gives us back as an effect of her creative activity is composed of entire spectrum of elements: objects, ideas and incidents. Her attention heads as for a detail remembered from the childhood or banal element of urban landscape as for omnipresent medial motif. All visual messages are equal because behind them is always fundamental human “action”. Drawings so far made in small scale, on sketchbook’s pieces as a preparation to final work, this time becomes the reaching point, they’ll appear as wall paintings in the gallery – Winnicka intends to move her drawn notes inside and to fill white and empty space by them. She will repeat so prosaic gesture of tiding up and trimming the homestead. Closed to Winnicka Magda Starska once noted down on one of her drawings: “Decorativeness equals to communication”. It’s worthwhile to look at Ola’s works as she looks at forms of human’s actions in the world: as on mark, ornament, hieroglyph. Besides all, Winnicka creates fairy tale. She treats the gallery as a book with inscribed author’s world. Entrance into the gallery is so the moment of starting lecture, and being inside is entering into imagined space where subtle drawing are traces of free thought. Melancholy typical for Ola shrouds entire exhibition, is a melody of flawing forms. Figures and motifs crowding gallery’s walls are as kind-hearted as disturbing, kindly shapes gently transform into deformation – idyllic landscape viewed through the new, mysterious filter.
